NFL: Colin Kaepernick Gets a Workout

TeeRoy's 2 Cents:

  • There are several teams that could use a quarterback right now. Even if he's in great shape, it's unclear whether any of them want to be the one to take a chance.
  • Some around the league have said a few teams have expressed an interest, which might be why the league is holding the workout.
  • The Dallas Cowboys have been mentioned as one team that's might be interested.
  • You have to assume that he'll address his anthem protest in the interview portion of the workout.

NFL: San Francisco 49ers at Los Angeles Rams

Colin Kaepernick's chances of returning to the NFL will get a big boost this weekend when the controversial quarterback will get to work out for representatives from all 32 teams.

The 32-year-old hasn't played since 2016, which is when he began protesting police brutality and racial injustice by kneeling during the national anthem. The league invited him yesterday to an open workout in Atlanta on Saturday that all teams are welcome to attend.

Kaepernick will get on the field to show whether or not he's still in game shape and will also sit for interviews. But it's unclear how many teams will actually attend, especially since they've been given such short notice. Kaepernick's reps asked the league to move the workout to Tuesday because half of the teams will be busy traveling on Saturday and therefore some coaches and general managers may not be available to attend.
