LIL JON: Funds School in Ghana

TeeRoy's 2 Cents:

  • In an Instagram post, Lil Jon talked about how the ribbon cutting ceremony and dedication was a special day for him and his family, which he dedicated to the Abomayaw community and his mother.
  • We love seeing our favorite artists do good and make a difference.
  • Maybe Jon should team up with Rihanna -- global education is a cause near and dear to her heart as well.

Lil Jon is using his big pockets to help some little brains grow in Ghana.

The King of Crunk celebrated the completion of a primary school in Ghana. On Saturday, he shared images on social media of Abomayaw D.A. Kindergarten, a school block he helped fund along with education organization Pencils of Promise. The block features three fully furnished classrooms, lavatories and an office.

Ghana radio outlet StarrFM Online reports the school replaced a battered building in the rural area of the Asuogyaman district. Previously, children attended school in sheds and would be sent home on rainy days. Jon took on the project in honor of his late mother, Carrie Smith-Williams. He said, “This is the first project we’ve done together of this kind and it is amazing to see the community come out to support [it]... I just feel like I’m lost for words of how amazing it feels to give the community something like this school.”

Since the project kicked off in January, the school has admitted 75 of the 200 children that live in the area. (Instagram)
