TI and Tiny Harris announced that a judge has upheld the decision to award punitive damages in their copyright infringement case against MGA Entertainment, the company behind O.M.G. Dolls. They initially secured $53.6 million in punitive damages and $17.9 million in actual damages. However, last month, the judge reconsidered the financial aspects of the case. A new filing from AllHipHop reveals that they will receive the full amount. The court ruled to return profits of $17,872,252 for common law misappropriation and confirmed the jury's punitive damage award of $53,616,759. Tiny shared her excitement on Instagram, stating, "Don’t play with God’s children!" and expressed gratitude for their legal team. TI and Tiny accused MGA of violating the intellectual property rights of their music group, the OMG Girlz, with their L.O.L. Surprise! O.M.G. dolls. MGA called the lawsuit a "moneygrab," which upset TI. He explained that MGA was trying to make them look bad while they were the ones in the wrong. He felt that their attitude showed a lack of understanding of the culture after having things their way for so long.
The initial ruling came in September 2024, almost four years after their complaint. After the decision, Tiny expressed her surprise at the total of $71 million. She said, "I mean, wow. They did more than I thought they would." She added that she would have been satisfied with any amount but felt they were blessed beyond expectations. They wanted to thank the jurors but did not get the chance.
