BEAUMONT, TX (December 8, 2025)— The City of Beaumont Water Utilities Department will mail annual water service line notification letters to approximately 38,411 customers in mid-December 2025. These letters are required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). They will be sent to customers whose water service line is listed as lead, galvanized steel that may need replacement, or whose material is unknown.
Receiving a letter does not mean your water is unsafe. The letters are part of a required citywide inventory to confirm what materials are used in the pipes that carry water from the city water main to homes and businesses.
Citizens can rest assured that Beaumont’s drinking water is tested regularly and is safe to drink, but under updated Lead and Copper Rule requirements, the City must identify service line materials and notify customers each year until every line is confirmed. Homes built before 1988 are more likely to have older service lines that could contain lead. Homes built after 1988 generally should not have lead service lines, but confirmation is still needed in some areas.
How residents can help
Customers can check their address and see what material is currently listed for their service line by visiting the City’s online map and survey at:

If your service line is listed as “unknown” and you are able to identify your pipe material, please report it through the online survey. Self-reporting helps the City update records faster and reduces the need for follow-up inspections.
For customers who do not self-report, Beaumont staff or contractors may confirm service line materials by digging two small test holes near the water meter. Customers do not need to be home for this work. The area will be refilled and restored, and a door hanger will be left with the results.
Lead and copper sampling still underway
Beaumont is also continuing required twice-yearly tap water sampling for lead and copper. The City is working to complete the second round of sampling for 2025 and still needs several samples.
Water Utilities staff will continue dropping off sample bottles to various locations. Residents who receive a bottle are encouraged to participate if they are able. Each returned sample helps the City meet state and federal testing requirements and supports safe drinking water for the community.
