(Austin, TX) -- Former Texas governor and one-time presidential candidate Rick Perry is getting back into local politics. He's joined the staff of House Speaker Dade Phelan, of Beaumont. The role is described as a "senior adviser." Phelan will face a tough road when the legislature gets back to work in January.He led the charge to impeach the State Attorney General. Ken Paxton beat the charges and recently called on House members to "dump Dade."
