Port Arthur Man Sentenced For Murder And Trafficking

A Port Arthur man charged with murder and human trafficking has been sentenced. Duane

Lamont Owens, who was charged with murder in connection with 2018 death of Michael Legg

in Nederland, was sentenced to 20 years after pleading guilty to a lesser charge of manslaughter.

Owens was also sentenced to 40 years on a charge of human trafficking. He will have to serve at

least 20years before becoming eligible for parole. Ashlie Martinez, one of Owens’ trafficking

victims,is also charged in the murder of Legg.
