T.I.: Call to Action

T.I. is asking for black people to make a statement by participating in #BlackoutDay2020.“Nobody spend [NOTHING] on this day! IF you give an [F] about the murders, lynchings, and oppression of people of color!!! #USorELSE #BlackoutDay2020 #July7th."

TeeRoy's 2 Cents:

  • Hopefully this works out better than his Gucci boycott.
  • Let's make this happen -- expeditiously of course.
  • Sometimes you need to "vote with your dollar" to make your impact felt.
  • It's a symbolic gesture if you just spend twice as much on July 8th.

Tip posted a call to action on his Instagram account, asking “ALL people of color” to take part in a day of solidarity on July 7th. According to the post, the combined spending power of “Africans, Native Americans, Asian-Americans [and] Hispanics” is 3.9 trillion dollars. That’s $10,684,931,506.80 it's going to cost per day next time a person of color gets shot!!! We call it #BLACKOUTDAY2020 July 7th, 2020 please spread the message, and let's show REAL action that they fear!!”

He added a personal message in the caption to drive the point home. “Nobody spend [NOTHING] on this day! IF you give an [F] about the murders, lynchings, and oppression of people of color!!! #USorELSE #BlackoutDay2020 #July7th."
