Beaumont Man Sentenced To 50 Years

A Beaumont man charged with the June 2017 shooting death of a pregnant Beaumont woman

has been sentenced to 50 years in prison. 24-year old Dustin Bernard, who was initially charged

with capital murder, reached a plea agreement for his involvement in the murder of 19-year old

Kera Teel at the Sienna Apartments on Concord Road in Beaumont. Bernard will have to serve

at least 25 years before he becomes eligible for parole. Co-defendant Corey Spencer, who was

14 at the time of the murder, has already pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing. Another

co-defendant, Johnny Phifer wh was 15 at the time of the murder is awaiting trial. Is awaiting

trial. Both Spencer and Phifer were certified as adults.
