Bartie Wins Runoff

Port Arthur has a new mayor. Former Justice of the Peace Thurman Bartie defeated incumbent

Derrick in Freeman in Saturday’s runoff election. Bartie picked up 54% of the vote. Just over

12% of the nearly 28,000 registered voters took part in the runoff. Bartie and Freeman were the

top two vote getters in the May 4th election.
