By a 6-1 vote, the Beaumont city council has agreed to take part in an online auction to
purchase the AT&T building. The city initial offered the owners $1 million for the building.
That offer was denied. Several citizens spoke at yesterday’s city council meeting opposing
the city taking part in the auction. City leaders want the property for future development.
Councilman Mike Getz was the only no vote.
